OK, I admit it. This post has a little to do with marketing and a great deal more to do with self-aggrandisement.

Last night I was a guest of Calloway Golf at an event they staged at Ibrox Stadium, the home of Rangers Football Club. The evening was a slick masterpiece of brand promotion featuring 3 golfers in the top ten World Rankings, one of Scotland’s leading professionals and the recent winner of the Scottish Open.

Henrik Stenson, Danny Willett, Branden Grace, Marc Warren, Alex Noren and another 3 Pros were teamed with Rangers’ players past and present in a challenge involving a 75 yard chip from the Directors’ Box to the centre circle followed by penalties on the pitch. The winning team comprised US Masters Champion Danny Willett and recent Rangers’ signing Joey Barton.

But enough of that. Let’s get to the good bit…

The ball closest to the pin was left sitting on the target. Henrik Stenson, number 6 in the world no less.

Approximately 2 feet away as I recall.

The 100 or so guests were invited to try and beat his effort.

99 failed.

One fellow hit it to 18 inches.
